Inspired by the marble races phenomenon on YouTube here comes Marble Racing!
Pre-Alpha version:
This version comes with one track and one set of marbles. You cannot choose the number of marbles yet. It's purpose is to show the basic idea and receive early feedback from players.
Currently the game runs in Flash.
Please put a comment with your system specs and an average FPS. Thanks!
Development plan:
It is going to be a simulation/sandbox/toy/maker of marble races. The game will let you select the track, theme and how many/what marbles are competing. Players will bet which marble makes it first to the finish line.
There will be several sets of marbles to choose race participants from.
The game will have a single race mode and a tournament mode with two variations - multi stage and brackets.
Built in track editor will let players create simple or complex tracks for the marbles. Tracks will feature obstacles, like fans for example.
The game will support up to 8 local players placing bets both in single race and tournament modes. No online multiplayer is planned.
How to play:
1. Choose which marble will win.
2. Watch as your marble miraculously makes it first or gets pushed to the last place. Every race is different!
Cyber Racer (itch) Mac Os X
3. You can click anywhere on the screen to restart at any time.
Platforms:
The aim is to publish Marble Racing for Windows first - this includes Itch.io, Steam and GoG.
Later the game will arrive on Android, iOS and hopefully Mac OS X and Linux.

DOES NOT WORK >:C
IT SAID ACTIVATE ADOBE FLASH PLAYER WHICH I DID AND IT STILL WONT WORK!!!!!
This game is great. I thought of this as Jelle's as well. It's pretty much that but in a game. Great work!
Hi, I wrote to Jelle Bakker, the biggest youtuber on sand marble races, his channel is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMV8B1Q5lEEb5yR8Hqkbdhg
Cyber Racer (itch) Mac Os Pro
I wrote him this:
Hi!
I'm a fan of marble races and your channel really makes great videos.
I'm very happy to follow and watch your contents, can you please mention a great marble game in one of your videos?
The game is in early development but with a lot of future projects Marble Racing by Ugly Pixels
The game is not mine, credits go to developper, I'm just trying to help him, I think his project has good potential!
Thank you very much and congrats for 200k on YT!
Mirco from Italy

And he replied this:
Dear Mirco,
I love the idea, but i cannot access the game because it requires adobe flash which cannot be installed on my computer. Please try to contact the developer to create a version which doesn’t require flash.
Greets, jelle
Hey,
I don't know why but I don't get email notifications about comments. Thanks for the interest. I have already got some feedback from Jelle on reddit. He likes the idea and said that would post some videos on his channel once the game is finished.
I have recently got back to developing the marble game. Would you like to be informed about any beta programs on Android?
Thanks
Hey, don't worry for late reply, I'm happy to hear that Jelle is going to try your game, you deserve it!
Also yes, I really would like to be informed about any beta on Android =)
Thank you very much.
Hey! I tried it and it's very funny to watch =) my fps were never under 60, the max I saw was 100 so it runs very well =) Great work! I can't wait to see future progress!
My Pc specs:
Intel i5 6600 - GTX 1060 6Gb - 16 Gb RAM
Hi!
Thanks for the specs and FPS. Do you know if there is any interest in such games? What would you like to see added or changed in this game?
Hi!
First of all I think there is huge interest in this kind of games, just look here https://www.twitch.tv/marbleracing/videos/all
Also on YT there are tons of video made with Algodoo, a funny toll to play with, but I still prefer your game!
I can suggest some good things, some may be easy to add, others more difficult:
- custom marble
- Free camera with mouse or keyboard movement (like Algodoo)
- Replay when the race is finished
- Editable marble stats (size, material, weight...)
- Championship mode with points
- Race with 3-5 laps (teleport to start when the marble runs to finish line) or longer tracks
- Track Editor
- More songs played randomly
EXTRA:
- Youtube trailer
- New game mode with power ups like Mario Kart
- New game mode 'elimination' every lap 2 marbles get eliminated
That's it for now, I'm very happy to see games like this! Keep it up!
Hey! I'm very happy to see someone developping a game on marbles!! I hope to see it soon!! =)
Thanks! The game is currently on hold but will be continued in the future under a different name. Cheers.
